Hi, I'm Liz
Social worker, neurodivergent mum and founder of The Sensory Sloth - building the kind of support, education and sensory store I wish existed earlier in our journey.
Thanks so much for being here. I’m really glad you found us.
Built on Big Feelings
Welcome to The Sensory Sloth.
We’re an Australian-owned sensory store built from lived experience, big feelings, and a whole lot of real-life chaos.
I’m Liz - mum to two brilliant neurodivergent boys, social worker turned small business owner, and someone who understands firsthand just how overwhelming parenting, regulation and sensory needs can sometimes feel.
The Sensory Sloth started from my own search for products that actually helped.
Not just products that looked good online or promised miracle results - but supports that genuinely helped my boys regulate, connect, feel safe and navigate the world a little more comfortably.
At the time, I kept finding either overly clinical resources or endless product options with very little explanation around what actually helped and why. I didn’t just want a sensory store. I wanted a place where families felt understood.
So I built one.

Our House Accidentally Product-Tested Half the Store
Honestly, most products in this business have probably survived some form of real-life testing in our house first.
Our home is full of movement, noise, sensory needs, negotiations, basketball talk, emotional support earmuffs, calm corners that sometimes work and sometimes absolutely don’t, and kids who feel things deeply.
That lived experience shapes every single thing we stock.
We don’t bring products into the store just because they’re trending or popular on social media. Everything is chosen through the lens of:
- emotional regulation
- sensory support
- practicality in real family life
- durability
- usefulness at home, school or in therapy spaces
- helping kids feel safe, calm, connected and supported
If we wouldn’t genuinely use it ourselves, we don’t stock it.

More Than Just Products
At its heart, The Sensory Sloth exists to help families feel less overwhelmed and less alone.
A huge part of what we do is helping parents understand the “why” behind regulation, movement, sensory needs and behaviour.
We talk openly about things many families are quietly carrying:
- school refusal
- anxiety
- emotional regulation struggles
- sensory overwhelm
- burnout
- parenting guilt
- the mental load of supporting neurodivergent kids
From calm corner ideas to heavy work activities, regulation support and practical sensory strategies, we want families to feel supported in real life - not judged, overwhelmed or expected to do things perfectly.
Because honestly? There is no perfect way to parent neurodivergent children.
Why “The Sensory Sloth”?
In our house, sloths represent calm, comfort and connection.
My oldest has fallen asleep listening to the same sloth meditation story for years. Somewhere along the way, that soft, steady energy became the heart of this brand too.
The Sensory Sloth isn’t about “fixing” children.
It’s about helping kids feel safe, understood and supported exactly as they are.
What I’m Juggling Between Emails
A Sensory Community
Over time, this little business has grown into something much bigger than I ever expected.
The Sensory Sloth is now a community of families, educators and therapists supporting children with big feelings all across Australia and beyond.
Through emails, blogs, social media and everyday conversations, we’ve built a space where parents can ask questions, share experiences, learn practical strategies and feel understood by people who genuinely get it.
Whether you’re building a calm corner, trying to survive after-school meltdowns, navigating school struggles, or simply looking for a really good fidget - you’re welcome here.
Thanks so much for being here and supporting our little family business.
We’re really glad you found us.
